Teeth Whitening

If you have a yellow or dark-stained smile, you know how embarrassing it can be. Whether you feel self-conscious about the shade of your teeth or you don’t like the way you look in pictures, a yellow smile can hinder your willingness to fully express yourself.

Because your smile is one of the first things that people notice about you and first impressions are so important, we provide an affordable and easy solution to give you the bright, healthy-looking smile of your youth.

Professional Teeth Whitening

While stained teeth are part of the natural aging process, you don’t have to sit by and watch your white smile disappear. At Alicia C. Almeida, DMD, PC, we offer professional custom teeth whitening systems to give you added confidence in your appearance.

The best time to whiten your teeth is right after a professional dental cleaning. That way, the tartar and plaque that collect on your teeth will not interfere with the whitening process.

We will take impressions of your teeth to create custom whitening trays to hold the professional strength whitening gel in place. We will discuss the level of staining present on your teeth and how often to wear your trays to achieve the best results for you. This can vary based on lifestyle habits, such as tobacco or coffee use, and your personal preference.

We will send you home with enough whitening gel to achieve great results in just a couple weeks of use. A before-and-after shade will help us to monitor your progress. After you complete your whitening treatment, you should retain your custom trays for future use.

Teeth Whitening Results

Results will vary from person to person based on your lifestyle, home care habits, and how often you whiten your teeth. You never have to worry about having an unnaturally white smile because we are not changing the color of your natural teeth, just bleaching the stains away.

Teeth Whitening Side Effects

For most patients, teeth whitening is completely safe and effective without side effects. For some patients with gum recession or sensitive teeth, some sensitivity may occur. You can simply take a break in between treatments or reduce the amount of time you wear your trays to reduce sensitivity. If you experience sensitivity, it is important to note that it is a temporary condition and should clear up in a day or two.

We also offer fluoride treatments to help strengthen your enamel and reduce side effects, including sensitivity.
